Terms of use

What you can and cannot take from this site, stated plainly — including the difference between a schedule figure and a court-determined one.

This site describes how traffic penalties work in the United Arab Emirates. It is not legal advice, it is not a substitute for advice about your own case, and no page on it predicts what any authority or court will decide.

What this site is

A free, independent reference. It carries no advertising, sells nothing, takes no payments and asks for no identifiers. Using it creates no relationship between you and the publisher.

Where it applies

The violation schedule, the black-point system and the impound rules described here are FEDERAL and apply across the Emirates. What differs locally is administrative — the issuing authority, the payment channel, and any discount round announced by an emirate. Where a page covers that local layer it says so.

What the figures on this site are

Most of them are fixed amounts set by a schedule, and they are stated as such, with the row they come from.

Some are not, and the difference matters. Four schedule rows price the fine as court-determined — there is no amount in the instrument, and this site prints that fact rather than a number. The criminal provisions state a range a court decides within, not a tariff. Neither is a prediction of what will be imposed in your case.

Where the law is unresolved

On a small number of questions the instruments genuinely do not settle the answer — most visibly, what the impound ceiling applies to. Where that is so, this site prints both readings and says that neither is chosen. It does not present one of them as the answer, and you should not treat it as one.

Accuracy, and its limits

Every figure here is traceable to the instrument named beneath it. Law changes, and a page that was right when it was written can go out of date. If you find something wrong, please say so; corrections are genuinely welcome.

What has not happened is the last step: this site’s figures have not been signed off by a reviewer of record. That is stated in the notice on every page rather than hidden, and it is a statement about the figures. The binding amount is the one on the notice you were issued.

Liability

This site is provided as it is. To the extent the law allows, the publisher is not liable for a decision you take on the basis of it. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.

Changes

These terms were last reviewed in August 2026.

Notice

Where these figures stand

Draft for review. Every figure on this site is transcribed from a named primary instrument and carries its citation, but none has been signed off by a reviewer of record yet — and a very recent amendment may not be reflected. Where the law itself is unresolved, this site says so rather than choosing an answer. The binding amount is the one on your own notice.

Every figure carries its instrument, its article or annex row, and its effective period.
